Testing, testing...

I am going to try to link to a video of Mike playing in Aunt Liz's pool. Not sure how well it will work, so let me know if you can see it or not!! I just took it with my little camera, so there's no sound, but I am going to take some real videos soon.

Michael in the Pool

Ok, I tested it out and it should show up fine. The screen they give you is bigger though, so it looks blurry. Eh, trial and error.

Guess what!!

(*warning: Poop Talk ahead*) Someone did poop on the potty today. It wasn't me, and it wasn't Mary (well maybe her too, she didn't really tell me)... it was Mike!!! I about died. We knew he had to go, so I sat him on the toilet, thinking we would just sit there for a bit and then he'd go in a Pull Up, but no, all of a sudden I hear "Plop!" (do you love it? I'm sorry if I am offending anyone's delicate sensibilities but darn it, I'm excited!!) and he did all his poops in the potty. I tried not to totally freak out and start hollering because I didn't want to scare him but I was so so so so proud of him!! And he was really proud of himself, too. He had this smug little grin on his face the entire time.

He went bowling today with his new school... Mary said he had a great time and really did well! I'm foreseeing a new winter pasttime maybe?

In other great news, he used his voice a little bit to say "Spi" for spin and he said "Hot d-d-d" for hot dogs! When I was spinning him on the pogo stick, he kept signing for water because that's his new favorite sign, ha ha, but I asked him "Do you want water?" and he shook his head No and says, "Spi!" It was fantastic.

For all who are concerned about progress on his Picture Calendar... I am uploading the photos right now and am going to make the calendar this weekend :) I am very excited about it! Also, Mary is going to order a special mouse for him so we can start playing on the computer!

Monday, July 17th

Mary and I took Michael to Aunt Liz's house for a swim... we didn't stay long because he was uncomfortable (you know how it is - when you gotta go, you gotta go. My aunt once brought her whole family home from Disney World after three days because she couldn't p-- but I digress.) and I was absolutely amazed at what a great swimmer he's becoming!! It is so fantastic to see how well he's doing now that he's feeling better (quick! Knock on wood!). He loves swimming around like a little fish.

His first day at his new school went really well. Mary said his teacher Jeannine seems very nice, enthusiastic, and optimistic, which is a refreshing change from his old situation!! I am very hopeful that they will do a lot of good things for him there. They already have a class trip to the bowling alley planned for Thursday- Michael's going to go!! (Maybe I will surreptitiously stop by to take some pictures... hmm...)

Thursday, July 13th

Mike and I had a great time playing in the backyard today! He really likes to spin on his Air Pogo stick -- I wind it up with him on it, then say, "Here...we...go!" and let him spin. He goes crazy fast! He cracks up the entire time. Of course, I make him mand for it... he signs "spin" and says "sp sp sp" with his voice. It's really great! He's trying so hard to talk.

Right now, he says "apppp" for apple, "Pop" for lollipop or popcorn, "habbbbb" for hot dog, and "kkkk" for corn cake. He also says his usual "mamama" and "bye bye"!

When he got too hot, we retreated to the deck to play with the hose... he's doing a GREAT job signing for water! He likes to be sprayed with the hose, especially on his feet. He also likes holding it and spraying me!! We also fill up a bowl and dump it out. He likes to drink the water, but the hose water is really not good for him so we don't let him drink it too often. He came up with the idea to pour water from his water bottle into the bowl and drink that-- we had no idea he could pour! He pours just enough, then puts the bottle down and takes a big drink. Very independent! And the boy can really chug....

Daddy's frat brothers would be so proud....
